Graph of the quadratic equation ax2 + bx + c = 0 , with a < 0 , D = 0 is
In the equation ax2 + bx + c = 0 , a is the coefficient of x2. D is the disriminant b2 – 4 ac. The value of coefficient decides whether the graph opens upwards or downwards. The value of discriminant decides the no of roots of the quadratic equation. Since D = 0, the equation has two equal roots, i.e. the curve is supposed to cut the x-axis at just one point.
