Group the like and the unlike terms together:
x,â2x,6x2,9x3,4yz2,12z2y
The terms having the same variables and powers are called like terms. Terms that do not have the same variables and powers are called unlike terms.
Hence (x,−2x) and (4yz2,12z2y) are like terms and 6x2,9x3 are unlike terms.
