Solution
Functional structure.
Aadvantages:
1. Specialisation : When the activities are grouped according to the type of function then all the activities are related to one type only. So, the specialised and professional experts can be hired to supervise those activities. This leads to efficiency and specialisation.
2. Easy supervision : The supervisor becomes familiar with the type of task to be performed because all tasks are related to one function only. As a result he can supervise and guide the employees who are performing those activities.
Disadvantages
1. Difficulty in achieving organisation's goal : The departments become specialised in their own way only. They fail to see the prospects of whole organisation. As a result the organisational goal cannot be achieved.
2. Departmental head's attitude : The departmental heads start thinking their departments as their functional empire and this leads to conflicts among various departments.
