Growth and reproduction are not the same in:
Prokaryotic organisms are those organisms which lack true nucleus and membrane bound organelles. Their genetic material is not enclosed in a membrane. For example, bacteria.
Eukaryotic organisms have a true membrane bound nucleus which stores its genetic material. It also has membrane bound organelles in it. For example, cells of human beings.
All prokaryotic organisms are unicellular. Eukaryotic organisms can be unicellular or multicellular. For example, desmids and diatoms are unicellular and human beings and dogs are multicellular eukaryotic organisms.
In unicellular organisms, growth and reproduction is the same. Hence, when the bacteria divides to form its daughter cell, the process is called bacterial growth and even reproduction. In multicellular organisms, growth and reprodu
ction are two different phenomena. Animals grow upto a certain age and plants grow throughout their lifetime.
