Solution

Growth is the process in which the number of cells in the organism increases. During cell division, there is breaking down as well as the synthesis of many compounds. The catabolic processes are the reactions in which the large complex molecules are broken down to form the smaller molecules in which the energy is released due to the breaking of the bonds of the larger complex molecules. The anabolic processes are the reactions in which the smaller organic molecules are used for the production of the large complex molecules in which energy is added. So, growth includes catabolic as well as the anabolic process.
