H2S reacts with most of the transition metals and it forms metal sulphides. In presence of S2 ion, the ionic product of these metal sulphide salt is much higher than their solubility product. Thus solubility of those metal sulphides get decreased and it gets precipitated. So it is easy to separate after precipitation. Hence H2S is used widely as a laboratory reagent.
