Question

H joules of heat is required to increase the temperature of one mole of a monoatomic gas from 20C to 30C at constant volume. How much heat will be required to increase the temperature of 2 moles of a diatomic gas from 20C to 25C at constant volume?

Solution

For the monoatomic gas
ΔH=nCvΔT
H=1×32R×10=15R

R=H15
For the diatomic gas.
ΔH=nCvΔT
H=2×52R×5
H=25R=25×H15=53H.
