H2O (g) + C -> CO+ H2
Steam reacts with red hot charcoal to form hydrogen gas& carbon monoxide.My question is why doesn't it form carbon dioxide?
Question 33 Write a balanced chemical equation for each of the following reactions and also classify them.
(a) Lead acetate solution is treated with dilute hydrochloric acid to form lead chloride and acetic acid solution.
(b) A piece of sodium metal is added to absolute ethanol to form sodium ethoxide and hydrogen gas.
(c) Iron (III) oxide on heating with carbon monoxide gas reacts to form solid iron and liberates carbon dioxide gas.
Write a balanced chemical equation for each of the following :
1. Carbon disulphide burns in air to give carbon dioxide and sulphur dioxide.
2. Calcium hydride reacts with water to form calcium hydroxide and hydrogen gas.
3. Methyl alcohol burns in air to form carbon dioxide and water.
4. Liquid hydrogen peroxide decomposes to give water and oxygen gas.
5. Aluminium hydroxide reacts with sulphuric acid to give ammonium sulphate and water.
6. Aluminium sulphate solution reacts with sodium hydroxide to form a precipitate of aluminium hydroxide.
