H2O (g) + C -> CO+ H2

Steam reacts with red hot charcoal to form hydrogen gas& carbon monoxide.My question is why doesn't it form carbon dioxide?

You can see in the equation that
for 1 mole(unit) of C only 1 mole(unit) of O is present so co is formed


For CO2 to be formed 1 mole (unit) of C needs 2 mole (unit) of O
