Half the perimeter of a rectangular garden is 36 m . If the length is 4 m more than its width , find the dimension of garden.

Open in App
Solution

Let the width of garden = x m
Let the length of garden = y = x + 4 m
Half of the perimeter =12×2(l+b)
= l + b
x+x+4=352x+4=36
2x+364=32x=322=16
x = 16 m , x + 4 = 16 + 4 = 20m
x+y=36,y=x+4xy=45
x y (x,y) x y (x,y)
10 26 (10,26) 20 24 (10, 24)
20 16 (20,16) 16 20 (16,20)
The lines intersecting at point (16, 20)
The width of the garden = 16
The length of garden = 20 m
