Half the perimeter of a rectangular garden, whose length is 4m more than its width, is 36m .

Find the value of the dimensions of garden

Let the width of the rectangle be x and the length be x+4

  • Given: Half of the perimeter of the rectangle=36m

12×perimeter of rectangle=36m

Perimeter of rectangle=2×36m

2(l+b)=72(x+x+4)=362x=32x=16

Therefore, length=x+416+4

Length=20

Breadth=x

Breadth=16

Hence, the length and breadth of the rectangle are 20 and 16respectively.
