$\Rightarrow x-y=8\dots \left(2\right)$

Adding (1) and (2),

$2x=48\Rightarrow x=24$

Substituting $x=24$ in (2),

$24-y=8\Rightarrow y=16$

$\therefore$ The length is 24 m and breadth is 16 m.
