Beryllium chloride(BeCl2) is covalent in nature due to small size and relatively high charge of Be2+ ion. Hence, beryllium chloride is soluble in organic solvents such as acetone.
On the other hand the halides (except fluoride) of other alkaline earth metals are ionic in nature and they are soluble in water.
