Harish rolled a small steel ball from one edge of the glass bowl as shown. Consider that there is no friction between the surface of the ball and the bowl, what will happen?
It will stop at centre point ‘C’ after a number of to-and-fro motions.
The forces which the ball experiences in this case are gravitational force and air drag. Due to these forces, the ball will keep oscillating between points A and B and will finally stop at the centre of the bowl at C (the equilibrium position) when it attains equilibrium.
