Solution

  1. Yes, I have experienced it.
  2. When a t train had halted at a station. I was looking out of the window.
  3. Another train came and stopped between me and the platform.
  4. After a few minutes, the other train suddenly started moving.
  5. As soon as as the other strain started, I felt for about a few seconds that my train had started moving.
  6. I felt sure that we were at rest at the station only when I had seen the platform again.

Reason:

  1. The reason for this is that motion is a relative term.
  2. Motion or rest are relative to each other, a body in motion for an observer may be in rest at the same time for another observer due to the point of reference.
  3. In case of train, for me the other train is in rest while that was moving and at the same time the other train can be experienced in rest and my train was moving backward for a person sitting ion the other train.
  4. Thus we need a reference point for specifying motion.
