Solution

Dear Student,

4HCl + O2 2Cl2 + 2H2O4 mol 2 mol4 mol of HCl goves 2 mol of Cl2Number of moles of HCl present = MassMolar mass=36.536.5= 1 molSo, 1 mol of HCl will give 14×2= 0.5 mol of Cl2and, 1 mol of Cl2 at STP occupies 22.4 LSo, 0.5 mol of Cl2 will occupy 22.4×0.5=11.2 LHence, 11.2 L of Cl2 can be obtained with 36.5 g of HCl.
