It has been experimentally noticed that in the absence of any external agent doing work, then heat flows from an object of higher temperature to an object of lower temperature until both objects reach the same temperature.
For example - An ice cube is placed in the hands of a man. Over time, heat conducted from the man’s hand (at higher temperature) to the ice cube (at lower temperature) will cause the ice to melt.
