Question

heat is evolved during the reaction between hydrochloric acid and sodium chloride why

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

1. It must be Sodium Hydroxide and not Sodium Chloride as there is no reaction between HCl and NaCl.

2. The reaction between HCl and NaOH is as shown:

HCl + NaOH H2O + NaCl + Heat

3. This heat evolved is due to the neutralisation reaction occurring between an acid and a base.

Regards.
