Question

hello sir/madam

i am a student of byjus the learning app

i want the answer of a question related to mole concept from the first chapter of the 11th ncert textbook

my question is

calculate the no.of molecules of hydrogen in 1120ml of hydrogen in stp

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,
before solving the problem, let me tell you about stp. This is required to solve the problem.

STP is Standard Temperature and Pressure. This is accepted as 0°c and 1 bar pressure. This condition is referred as stp. At stp, one mole of any gas will occupy
22.4 L. This volume is constant at stp, no matter which gas it is.

So from the above theory, we can solve the question.
It is given 1120 ml of hydrogen. i.e. 11.2 L of hydrogen.
22.4/2 = 11.2 L
We know 22.4 L will have 1 mole of H2( hydrogen).
So 11.2 L will have half the amount, i.e. it will have 0.5 mole of H2.
thank you.
