Tropical Deciduous Forests Coniferous Forests
They shed their leaves during dry seasons. They retain their leaves throughout the year.
They have the types of tree which have hard wood. The wood in coniferous forests are generally soft wood.
They spread over areas of annual rainfall ranging between 200 cm and 70 cm. They are spread over areas with annual rainfall ranging from 90 cm to 30 cm with some areas recieving upto 200cm.
Another name of these forests is the monsoon forests. Coniferous forests are also known as Taiga.It is a russian word which means pure or untouched.
Important trees found are sal, teak, neem and shisham. Dominant trees in coniferous forests are pines, spruces, firs, and larches.
