Solution

The correct option is C Thyroxine from thyroid
Hormone controlling metabolism is thyroxine from thyroid. This hormone is released under the influence of TSH, released by anterior pituitary. Iodine is essential for the normal rate of hormone synthesis in thyroid. Deficiency of iodine in diet results in low secretion of thyroid hormone. Thyroxine hormone controls growth, mental faculties and tissue differentiation. It controls the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates and hence regulates the growth of the body tissues. These hormones play an important role in the regulation of the basal metabolic rate (BMR).
