Oxytocin is secreted from the posterior lobe of pituitary gland or neurohypophysis. It is a peptide hormone that stimulates vigorous uterine contractions in females at the time of child birth. It also stimulates milk secretion by mammary glands i.e. lactation. Hence, both child birth and lactation are controlled by oxytocin.
On the other hand, growth is controlled by growth hormone secreted from anterior lobe of pituitary gland.
