Solution
The correct option is C TSH
TSH (Thyroid stimulating hormone) is secreted from basophilic cells of anterior lobe of pituitary gland. This hormone stimulates thyroid gland to produce thyroxine hormone. Thyroxine is synthesised from iodine and amino acid tyrosine. It is released as T4 or tetraiodothyronine in the body. It increases oxygen consumption in metabolically active tissues and regulates metabolic rate of the body.
Hence, TSH stimulates iodine uptake for the synthesis of thyroxine hormone.
