TSH (Thyroid stimulating hormone) is secreted from basophilic cells of anterior lobe of pituitary gland. This hormone stimulates thyroid gland to produce thyroxine hormone. It increases oxygen consumption in metabolically active tissues and regulates metabolic rate of the body.
