It is an organic substance which is secreted by plants and animals and is also a chemical messenger that controls the major functions of the body and simple basic needs. For example, the role of ovarian secretions in the role maturation of oocytes was first seen in start fishes later the same was found in vertebrates. The role of thyroid hormones during embryonic development was first found in tadpoles, later on, it was researched in the mammalian glands.
