Question

Hot saturated solution of sodium nitrate forms crystals, as it cools. Why

Open in App
Solution

A hot saturated solution of Sodium nitrate(NaNO3) forms crystals, as it cools:

  • Because of the decrease in its solubility with a decrease in temperature.
  • Saturated solution: It is the type of solution in which no more solute can be added.
  • As the solubility decreases at room temperature, therefore when the excess of Sodium nitrate in saturated solution it get will separate out in form of crystals.
