Solution
The trait of height of a human being is polygenic. In other words, many genes together have a cumulative effect on the phenotype. About 60 to 80 per cent of the height of an individual is determined due to genetic factors and the rest 40 to 20 per cent is determined by environmental factors. A child's height may often be determined by finding the mean height of the parents. However, the health of the mother during gestation, the type of nutrition, and health care available play a major role in determining the height of the person.
