How anodising can be used to prevent rusting of iron?

Open in App
Solution

Anodizing is defined as the process of depositing a thick layer of oxide of metal on its surface by making that metal as anode of a cell, such that oxygen which is released during electrolysis of some suitable electrolyte reacts with the metal and forms metal oxide. This layer of metal oxide makes the metal resistant to further corrosion.

In case of iron the thick layer of of oxide zinc will be deposited to prevent its the further oxidation.
