Vermiform appendix is a blind sac developed during the foetal stage from the caecum to which it remains attached.It was long thought to be a vestigial organ with no function in our body. William Parker, Randy Bollinger, and colleagues (2007) proposed that the appendix stores useful bacteria especially when illness removes those bacteria from the rest of the intestines.
