Formation of Anions:

  1. Atoms are electrical neutral.
  2. When the atoms gain electrons, negatively charged ions are formed.
  3. Theses negatively charged ions are known as anions.

Example:

  1. Fluorine atom forms (F-) anion on gaining one electron in the outermost shell.
