How are CFCs harmful?
CFCs are chlorofluorocarbons that deplete the ozone layer. They are rich in chlorine, fluorine, and carbon.
Effects of chlorofluorocarbons:
(i) Skin cancer.
(ii) Damage to eyes.
(iii) Damage to the immune system.
(iv) Decreased crop yields.
They make highly stable compounds with oxygen by splitting the ozone molecules. Hence damaging the ozone layer.
