Open in App
Solution

Jute:

  1. Jute is a bast fiber that may be spun into coarse.
  2. It is made from blooming plants of the genus Corchorus, which belongs to the Malvaceae family of mallows.
  3. These plants are grown throughout the year.

Retting:

  1. The technique of extracting jute fibers from the plant's stem is known as retting.
  2. After the retting, the fiber is stripped from the stalk using the stripping method.
  3. During the retting process, the knotted bundle of jute stalks is transferred to the container and soaked in water.
  4. Germs and wetness on plants cause fibers to loosen and separate from the woody stem.
  5. As soon as the bark is separated from the wood and the fiber is ready to be extracted, the retting process is said to be completed.
  6. The completion of the process requires almost one month.
