Question

How are icebergs formed?

Open in App
Solution

In very cold regions, the temperature over the sea is about −5oC. Hence, the uppermost layer of the sea water freezes and forms the glaciers or ice−shelves. The large pieces of ice that get broken off from such glaciers or ice−shelves form icebergs.
