  1. These are balloon-like structures underneath our torso, that are responsible for providing blood with oxygen so that it can supply that to our whole body.

Lung protection:

  1. Lungs are surrounded by a pleural membrane and the pleural fluid present between the pleural membrane provides protection to the lungs.
  2. The pleural fluid prevents friction and absorbs shock.
  3. The rib cage also protects the lungs from external injuries or shocks.
