Question

How are monsoon winds formed?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Winds are the conventional currents. Monsoon winds are formed due to the temperature difference between the heated land and surface and the surrounding oceans.
  2. During day times of summer, the hot air over the land surface rises and the cooler winds from over the ocean surface, which is filled with water vapor, rush to take its place.
  3. This causes the winds to flow from the ocean towards the land. These are called monsoon winds.
