Solution

Xylem Vessels and trancheids elements

  • Xylem provides water and minerals to all the parts, from the roots to all the parts of plants.
  • Xylem comprises the following components: Vessels, Tracheids, Xylem parenchyma, and xylem fibres.
  • Xylem vessels are long cylindrical structures that have a tube-like appearance. The walls are lignified and have a large central cavity.
  • The tracheids are long tapered signified cells in xylem conductivity. These are water-conducting cells.
  • Piths are present in the xylem vessels and tracheids.

Role of piths

  • Pith is the soft central cylinder in the parenchyma tissue.
  • The pith of one cell matches the pit of the cell adjacent to it.
  • So, a cell cavity formation occurs, connected to other cavities present near it.
  • It facilitates the transportation of water up and down and to and fro.
