Solution

Clouds are very small droplets of water in the form of vapour. When heavy, dark rain clouds called storm clouds develop high above the ground, strong winds move upwards through the light clouds and move the layer of clouds rub apart each other. As a result extremely large electric charges are produced in the cloud due to friction. The upper layers of clouds get positively charged and the lower layers of cloud get negatively charged.
