How are proteins classified? Name some so-called simple proteins and conjugated proteins.

Proteins are generally classified on the basis of their shape, constitution, and nature of molecules.
  • Based upon their Constitution, they are either simple, conjugated and derived proteins.
  • While on the basis of their shape they are classified as fibrous or globular protein such as keratin and hemoglobin respectively.
  • Nature of molecules of proteins can be acidic(eg. Blood groups) and basic(eg. Arginine)
Examples of simple proteins are albumin globulin etc while that of conjugated proteins are nucleoproteins, glycoproteins etc.
