Solution

Deserts:

  1. A desert has a very dry habitat where a little amount of water is present.
  2. Deserts can be cold as well as hot depending on the geographical position.
  3. Animals that can survive in these conditions are camels, kangaroo rats etc.

Adaptations of the desert animals:

  1. Long eye lashes with hairy ears helps to keep out sand.
  2. Thick eyebrows which stand out and shade eyes from the sun with wide feet so they don't sink in the sand.
  3. They can drink gallons in one go and therefore doesn't require water for a long time.
  4. They store fat in their humps and thus can go months without food.
  5. To prevent intense heat, other animals like rats, lizards, and snakes stay in deep sand burrows and out only at night when it is cooler.
