Question

How are sprouts different from normal seed?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

By definition seeds are unit of reproduction of a plant, capable of developing into another such plant. However, a sprout is a small growth on a seed. In other words sprouts are grown from a seed.

So sprouting is the natural germination process by which seeds or spores put out shoots, plants produce new leaves or buds, or other newly developing parts experience further growth.

All viable seeds can be sprouted.

Eg:
Mung bean sprout is made from the greenish-capped mung beans
