How are the formulae of oxides of phoshorous - P2O6 and P2O10 possible? I am asking it as I read Dalton's atomic theory which tells "Atoms combine in the ratio of small whole numbers to form compounds".

The law is called law of multiple proportion, in which for a given mass of an element, the masses of other elements come in the ratio of small integer. Here for fixed weight of phosphorous the oxygen combines in the ratio 3 : 5
