Asexual reproduction in hydra is usually through budding and fragmentation.
Asexual reproduction through budding: Budding is a type of asexual reproduction where a small bud is formed on the parent Hydra due to continuous cell division (mitosis) at a particular region. The daughter cell grows out of this bud with the nutrition obtained from the parent Hydra. When the daughter Hydra is mature, it starts separating from the parent Hydra leaving behind scar tissue. The new daughter Hydra formed will be a clone to the parent hydra.
Asexual reproduction through fragmentation:
During asexual reproduction through fragmentation, the body of Hydra breaks into distinct pieces known as fragments. Each fragment grows into an adult that is identical to their parent Hydra. These daughter Hydra are capable of producing offsprings.
