How bacteria, fungi and lower plants survive in unfavourable conditions? Explain.

Open in App
Solution

In the case of lower organisms like the bacteria, fungi and lower plants, the metabolic rates are changed. When there are unfavorable conditions, the metabolic rate is slowed down. This helps in conserving energy to survive. There is the formation of spores in lower organisms. These are tough spores which have a hard covering. These spores can survive in the adverse conditions and germinate on the return of favorable climate.
