  1. The fusion of the sperm and the egg form the zygote.
  2. Further cleavage and rapid mitotic divisions of the zygote produce blastomeres.
  3. Initially, a two-celled stage is formed from the zygote by cleavage.
  4. On further mitosis, a four celled stage is formed.
  5. The individual cells in these stages are called blastomeres.
  6. Mitosis of the blastomeres forms the morula as shown below:
