how can 1 be a triangular number? 1 cannot be a triangular number becuase when it is visualised it does not form a triangle?

1 is the first term in the triangular number series
It has to go like
1
1+2=3
1+2+3=6
1+2+3+4=10
1+2+3+4+5=15

The triangles are equilateral. And, each row will have the number of dots as mentioned above. The numbers do form a triangular pattern BUT, this pattern begins from 1 onwards, and hence 1 is a triangular number. Please note that it need not look like a triangle.
