Open in App
Solution

Part 1: Corrosion

  1. When metals get exposed to the environment, the metal loses their shine or strength and is covered with a coloured layer.
  2. This occurs due to the chemical reaction between metals and the environment and the process is known as corrosion.

Part 2: Prevention method

  1. The corrosion is prevented by coating the surface with oil, grease or paint.
  2. The corrosion is prevented by coating a thin layer of metal which do not corrode.
  3. The corrosion is prevented by connecting the metal (which needs to be protected from corrosion) with a more electropositive metal.
