so there is no need to identify them.All ionic compounds, recognized as compounds which contain at least one metal or semimetal and one non-metal, can be considered salts except those that contain only metal(s) and oxygen and maybe hydrogen
Because you can always find an acid and a base whose reaction would formally give such a compound, even if in many cases such direct reaction isn't possible and the compound has to be formed in some other way.
