How can onion be an edible part of a leaf,aren't they edible parts of a stem? It is shown in plant products in science.

The onion consists of reduce disc shaped stem. It is a modified stem as it is present underground and bears fleshy scaly leaves in the form of bulb and small roots in the form of rhizoids.
However onion bulb is a modification of leaves. These leaves are modified to store food. The onion bullb forms the edible part which is a modification of leaf. ​
