Plasmolysis:
When a cell is placed in a hypertonic solution the protoplasm of the cell will shrink away from the cell wall, this is known as plasmolysis.
Plasmolysis can be achieved by placing the cell in a saline solution which will be hypertonic in nature.
This plasmolysis can be reversed by placing the cell again in normal water or in a hypotonic solution.
