  1. We know that a pulley system consists of a wheel with a groove designed to support movement on an axle or shaft, as well as a rope in the groove
  2. Since when the surface of one item comes into touch with the surface of another, friction is the force that opposes motion.
  3. Here in this pulley system there comes this contact force between pulley and chain which results in the need for a large force.
  4. To reduce this frictional force, we can use lubricants.
  5. A lubricant is a material that can lower the friction between the surfaces that are in contact, lowering the amount of heat created when the surfaces move.

Hence, in this manner, we can increase the efficiency of a pulley system, and also by reducing the mass of the pulley we can increase its efficiency.
