Pest is a living organism mainly insect which is very harmful to the plants.
Pests spread diseases to the crops which lead to the loss in production of the crop.
Pest control methods must be used to control them from damaging the crops.
They also include animals which carry diseases, parasites and micro-organisms.
We protect the crop from pests by following methods:
Small pellets of food mixed with a rodenticide are strewn around the area where grain is stored which will keep the pests away from the crops.
Insecticides: Insecticides are sprayed over crop plants by hand-operated machines or by sprinklers.
Fungicides: Pesticides used to protect crop plants from diseases are called fungicides.
The biological method is the technique in which there is the use of living microorganisms or their product which act as predators or enemies of the target pest species.
