Question

How can we reduce greenhouse gas emissions?

Open in App
Solution

Greenhouse gas: Gases that absorb and emit infrared radiation are referred to as greenhouse gases.

  1. They absorb infrared energy (i.e. heat energy) emitted from the earth’s surface and then reradiate it back to the earth’s surface.
  2. This heat in the earth’s atmosphere warms the planet leading to increased temperature and disturbance in the climate.

Greenhouse Gas emission:

  1. Reduce, reuse and recycle should be followed everywhere.
  2. Plant more trees to reduce the effects of deforestation.
  3. Conservation of energy.
  4. Burning of less fossil fuels will reduce pollution too.
  5. Use less air-conditioning.

Examples of greenhouse gases: Carbon dioxide, methane, ozone, hydrofluorocarbons, etc.
